Welcome to the website of the Vet. Horse Clinic Wapenveld.

Localised in the Netherlands, our clinic has since long been open to horses and their owners. Our clinic offers extended diagnostic and treatment possibilities for your horse. The horse clinic Wapenveld is a well equipped clinic, moreover, we, at the practice highly value service and quality. Horseclinic Wapenveld

The clinic offers orthopaedic examinations in cases of lameness, ultrasound examination, dental care, gynaecological and surgical procedures like arthroscopy (ocd). The clinic also has an advanced digital state of the art x-ray machine to its disposal, with which we are able to develop very clear X-rays at high speed. We also offer the possibility to have your horse chipped for the FEI passports.

Furthermore, we perform all possible equine diagnostic imaging such as; PROK mares, stallions for the stallion inspection, and yearling for the OCD (bone fragments in a joint) inspection, by order of the KWPN (Royal Warmblood Studbook of the Netherlands). In all these inspections we make use of digital X-ray for superior image quality.

At the same time we offer pre-purchase examination (Vetting) for buying and selling horses, nationally as well as internationally, and for insurance purposes. These inspections will be executed by a licensed inspection veterinarian, enabling you to immediately insure your horse, by a Dutch insuring company. vetting

A pre-purchase examination involves checking the horse for possible body deviations, such as mouth, eyes, back, heart and lungs. We draw blood for possible further examination, if necessary. Furthermore, we examine the animals’ movements; this involves lameness examination (walking and trotting) in a straight line. We will perform flexion tests on both the front and hind limbs to detect any possible painfulness in the legs. In performing these tests certain leg areas will be bent or bowed extra. Next, the course of the horse will be examined on the hard and soft bottom.

If the horse needs a complete pre-purchase examination, this includes, besides the above mentioned examinations and inspections, X-rays to map the horses’ bone structure. Normally, twenty X-rays will be made of the examined horse. If necessary more X-rays can be taken!

Afterwards we can burn the images on a Disc, which the instructors can take home.
